Heather Demetrios : I'LL MEET YOU THERE

Warning!! Buy yourself a tub of Ben & Jerry's - the more chocolatey, the better. It will be needed.

I'LL MEET YOU THERE is a contemporary YA novel written by the sweet and extremely talented writer - Heather Demetrios.

This is my first encounter with this author. I have seen many reviews and recommendations all over blogs and accounts dedicated to books. This book has been only published earlier this year, but soon enough, It became book worms' favourite. And after reading this book, I can understand why. I have been no exception and I fell in love with this book deeply.

*****

If Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing separating Skylar from art school is three months of summer... until Skylar's mother loses her job, and Skylar realises her dreams may be slipping out of reach. Josh had a different escape route: the Marines. But after losing his leg in Afganistan, he returned home, a shell of the cocksure boy he used to be. What brings Skylar and Josh together is working at the Paradise - a quirky motel off California's Highway 99. Despite their differences, their shared isolation turns into a friendship and, son, something deeper.

*****

As I mentioned, this book has been released only earlier this year. I actually had it on pre-order ever since I read the synopsis on one of the blogs I follow. My copy is a hardback. 379 pages divided into 34 chapters written from Skylar's point of view. Every couple of chapters, there is a page from Josh's diary which gives us a glimpse into what is going through his mind. The sleeve of the book is beautiful. On the front, there is a collage of the title of the book and the author's name. It's designed with the style of lomography and good all american motel signs. Nice touch.

The writing is absolutely fantastic. Easy to read. Modern. Filled with wonderful, at times hilarious dialogues. Talk about slow burn and sexual tension. I swear, Marc Guggenheim (The producer of my favourite show on TV at the moment - ARROW) must have read this book. Because that's the only way I can understand how similar are the relationships of the main characters. Viewers of Arrow have been watching Oliver & Felicity aka #Olicity fighting feelings for another for 3 seasons. Talk about  patience. Skylar & Josh are the same in so many ways. One step forward, two steps back. Although I enjoy the tension and the relationship, it's frustrating at times and I just want to shake some sense into the characters. But that's what makes a great relationship and writing (and TV show). It lures you in and keeps you on your toes with many hardships and tests. And at the end you are rewarded with a satisfaction of a great ending.

The story itself is brilliant, smart and life-changing. It's a wonderful love story of two people who went through hell and fought their way back to normality and possible happy ending. Josh's part is absolutely mesmerising. I do appreciate the author approaching the subject of soldiers in Afghanistan or Iraq. I admired the way the author described post-traumatic stress disorder and the way of copying with what the soldiers seen and went through. We all think about it and have our own ideas of what is happening out there, but the writer managed to described it perfectly and to the point without making it more colourful or appealing. It's written in truth, describing all the feelings Josh goes through. The whole story is one of a kind. It's cleverly written and you cannot help but keep on reading. It's exciting and you will fall in love with it straight from the start. It won't let you stop reading. And after you are done, it will leave a mark on you and makes you think about it for quite some time.

Skylar is a wonderful character so many of us can relate to. He grew up in a sleepy town where the prospect of your future is teenage pregnancy and your own trailer in massive trailer park. Your dream job is a graveyard shift at Taco Bell. So she does everything in her power to not end up like every other Creek View girl. She wants more for herself. She is strong, beautiful and has her head firmly on her shoulders. She is real. I love her humour. Josh is a strong, very charismatic player who had a great potential. He run away from Creek View and found his true calling in Marines. But then the explosion happen and Josh lost his leg and best friend. He is hurting and needs to find a way to cope with the new reality. Both of these characters are so inspiring and so real. I love and admire them both.

So all in all, I give this book 5 stars without any hesitation. It was a wonderful, thrilling ride and I cannot wait to re-read the book as soon as I can. I would recommend to anyone, regardless if you love YA contemporary genre or not, you should give it a go. You won't regret it.

Well done Ms Demetrios. You found yourself a new, but very loyal fan. I cannot wait to read your other novel SOMETHING REAL.

Alice Oseman : SOLITAIRE

Warning! I hope you are armed with a lot of patience.

SOLITAIRE is a debut novel written by the very new author on the scene - Alice Oseman.

Alice used to be, well actually still is, quite a famous rambling, pessimistic and sarcastic blogger on Tumblr. Her ramblings and posts won hearts of millions followers around the world and Alice was offered a lifetime opportunity to write a novel which would be published and sold by many booksellers all over the world. And Solitaire was born. I came across Solitaire on one of my book haul in Waterstones. The cover immediately caught my attention, and so did the blur on the back.

*****

'I don't ever remember not being serious. As far as I'm concerned, I came out of the womb spouting cynicism and wishing for rain.'

My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep and I like to blog. Last year I had friends. Things were very different. I guess, but that's all over now. Now there's Solitaire. And Michael Holden. I don't know what Solitaire are trying to do. And I don't care about Michael Holden. I really don't.

*****

Let's talk about the edition first. It's a very cool paperback. I absolutely adore the design. Black covers with neon orange and neon colours which create a heart. A solitaire heart. I wish they would decide to dye the pages in neon orange too as I think it would add the extra coolness. 392 pages. The book is divided into 2 parts.

The writing. Modern. Smart. Packed with pop culture references every one is familiar with. Funny at times, but very dark and pessimistic. Which I understand serves the purpose of the main character being always the serious, sarcastic person.

The story. Well... To be honest.. I have been very disappointed with the story. I was expecting more. Instead I was left baffled. I don't honestly know the point of this novel. Yes, Tori is very sad person who likes to isolate herself from others. She doesn't make friends and when someone wants to get to know her, she doesn't take it well. If this story would more focus on that issue, I might quite enjoy it. Instead, the author throws in the issue and movement of Solitaire and this whole story becomes a hot mess. I know I shouldn't be so harsh. This is Oseman's debut novel. But unfortunately, I didn't like it.

The character development was no-existent. The plot was a little bit boring and failed at times. The characters weren't likeable. For first 200 pages I didn't have a clue where this author and story is heading. And that didn't improve. All this book did manage, is to piss me off. Literally. The sarcasm and pessimism in this book feels forced. It's hard to read because all you do is shake your head at the non-existing story development. And I am really sorry about it. I was so looking forward to read this book, but I ended up not liking it at all.

I am sorry Alice. I know it's your first novel. I think you have tried really hard to make your story relate able. I think you wanted to capture the life of teenage girl who doesn't know where she belongs in this world. She forgot how to live her life. But unfortunately, you failed to write a memorable story. Instead I was happy to put the book down and I won't come back to it for a very long time, if ever.

Waiting On Wednesday #9: THE GIRL AT MIDNIGHT by Melissa Grey

THE GIRL AT MIDNIGHT
by Melissa Grey

Publication Date : April 28th 2015
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Genre: Young Adult / Fantasy
Available To Pre-Order : Amazon UK

For readers of Cassandra Clare's City of Bones and Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone, The Girl at Midnight is the story of a modern girl caught in an ancient war.

Beneath the streets of New York City live the Avicen, an ancient race of people with feathers for hair and magic running through their veins. Age-old enchantments keep them hidden from humans. All but one. Echo is a runaway pickpocket who survives by selling stolen treasures on the black market, and the Avicen are the only family she's ever known.

Echo is clever and daring, and at times she can be brash, but above all else she's fiercely loyal. So when a centuries-old war crests on the borders of her home, she decides it's time to act.

Legend has it that there is a way to end the conflict once and for all: find the Firebird, a mythical entity believed to possess power the likes of which the world has never seen. It will be no easy task, but if life as a thief has taught Echo anything, it's how to hunt down what she wants . . . and how to take it.

But some jobs aren't as straightforward as they seem. And this one might just set the world on fire.

Stephanie Perkins : LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR

Warning! Prepare yourself for an overload of feelings and love.

LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR is a second book in the Anna series written by the wonderful queen of romance - Stephanie Perkins.

I have read both previous novels in this series and absolutely enjoyed them both. I  loved Anna & The French Kiss, but I absolutely adored Isla & The Happily Ever After. Naturally, I couldn't wait to read Lola's story. So when me and Sara from CARPELIBRUMGIRL were looking for this month's choice for #ZCbookclub, we both immediately agreed on Lola & The Boy Next Door.

And what a wonderful choice we have made.

*****

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn't believe in fashion.. she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit - the more sparkly, more wild - the better. And life is pretty close to perfect for Lola, especially with her hot rocker boyfriend. That is, until Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighbourhood and unearth a past of hurt that Lola thought was long buried. So when talented inventor Cricket steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally face up to a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

*****

The edition. Paperback. 373 pages divided into 34 chapters. The edition perfectly matches the other books in the series. This one is toned to lovely orange tones with the picture of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. Bold white lettering announcing the title of the book. Simple, yet quite romantic. The design is a welcome familiarity which wraps around you like a security blanket, promising a beautiful story inside.

Ms Perkins' story telling doesn't fail to impress either. She is has this wonderful talent to tell you a romantic story in a modern way which never fails to grab you straight from the start and it won't let go until the last page. And even then, you are left wondering, lost in thought, considering the story all over again. It's beautiful. With Stephanie's name on the book, you are always guaranteed a story which will stay with and changes the way look at love. And this book is no exception. Straight from the start I have been hooked. The story and writing is easy to read and follow. It's packed with twits and turns you don't see coming. It's funny. Smart. Hilarious at times. Filled with dialogues on various degrees of awkwardness but filled with satisfaction. The wonderful love story just shines through.

The story.. Well I have to say that Stephanie Perkins is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Her stories never lacks romance and good plot line which leaves you with so many wonderful emotions and feelings. Lola & Cricket's story is not different. It is heartbreaking and frustrating at times, but it is worth the reading. You will find yourself invested in the story immediately and your admiration will only grow with each passing page.

Lola is such a wonderful charming original character amongst the modern version of heroines. Most of the YA novels write about strong girls fighting for the world, but Lola is different. She is quirky, with a unique sense of style who doesn't care what others think of her. She has been through heartbreak in her life and it only made her stronger. But she has some issue as well. Which, as the story continues, she learns to face. Now, Cricket is an unlikely male main character too. He is funny, smart, but shy. He seemed to be in his sister's shadow for most of his life and only recently learns to get hold of the reins on his own life. He is in love with a girl, but she might not love him anymore as he messed up in the past - big style. You cannot help but love and admire both main protagonists.

I did also enjoyed the family issues and problems raised in this story. These troubles are familiar to so many of us so we can easily relate to the story. And that makes the story extra special.

So all in all, I love LOLA & THE BOY NEXT DOOR. It was a wonderful part in very beautiful series of books written by an author who has a strong hold on what people want to read. Now, it wasn't my favourite book in the series (yes, the first place still belongs to Isla's story..) but it I enjoyed it reading as much as Anna's story. And I did adored the fact that both Anna & St Clair were side kicks to the main characters.

Very well done Ms Perkins. Once again, you have prove yourself to be a queen of YA romance.

Kody Keplinger : SHUT OUT

Warning : Hamilton High, how much I have missed you!

SHUT OUT is contemporary YA novel, a third one I have read, written by the very talented american author Kody Keplinger.

Let me make something clear. I love Kody and her writing! Every single novel I own makes me all fuzzy and smiley. I cannot wait to tell you about this one.

*****

LET THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES BEGIN!
The girls of Hamilton High are sick of the rivalry between their boyfriends' football and soccer teams. Lissa's quarterback boyfriend Randy is always ditching her to pick a fight on or prank the other team. The girls are tired of competing for the boy's attention. THEY WANT THEIR BOYFRIENDS BACK! Lissa rallies the girls and calls a sex strike. The boys won't get any action from them until the teams make peace. What they don't count on is a new rivalry: a girls-against-boys showdown that hinges on who will cave first. And Lissa finds that it's much harder than she ever thought it would be.

*****

Ok doki, let's start with the edition first. Paperback. 327 pages. 32 chapters. Strong, fierce picture of, what I assume, Lissa on the front cover with bold lettering announcing the title. Simple, yet effective.

The writing. It's fast paced. Easy to read. Modern. Funny. Smart. Exciting. Packed with twists and turns nobody expects. Not to mentioned, that Kody is a master in writing about teenage drama and sexual tension. Her writing is like a soft, comfortable blanket which wraps around and make you remember the good old 90's romantic comedy which brings you back to your teenage years. It's always packed with hilarious drama which keeps on giving. And you just cannot stop but keep reading on. Every single page. Every single chapter is an exciting adventure. And when the story is finished, you are left wanted more. And this novel is no exception. It's fantastic in its own way.

Now, let me tell what I thought about the story itself. It was absolutely brilliant. I have fallen for this story straight from the start and wasn't able to put the book down. I found it refreshing and packed with hilarious drama which made me grin all the way through. I love the sexual tension between characters and the always present battle between both sexes. I couldn't put this book down.

The characters were so relate able. Every girl can find a pice of her in Lissa's character. I, myself, find a lot of similarities with Lissa - a love for books mostly. I thought that Randy is a jerk straight from the start and I was crushing on Cash as soon as he entered the scene. Even though I thought that American Football is way more manlier sport than football aka soccer. But my favourite character was Chloe. I loved the fact that she didn't care what others think of her or her doing, but she is true to herself, does what makes her happy and is a way stronger character than anyone would though.

I have truly enjoy the battle of the sexes and the sex ban idea. It made it refreshing. Especially when the boys were starting to fight back. It created hilarious situation which kept on giving and making me laugh even louder. The girls became as frustrated as the boys. It was brilliant. I adored how Kody explained the feelings between when it's right and true, when you know that the person is right for you .. and when it's settling with something familiar because you are scared of a change. It was a great explanation and the feelings were captured wonderfully.

So thank you Kody Keplinger for writing another story which is a great pleasure to read. Another very well done. I cannot wait to read more from your pen.

K. T. Turner : BROOKLYNN'S BRIDGE

BROOKLYNN'S BRIDGE is a debut YA novel written by K. T. Turner. KT approached me on Goodreads after reading my profile to ask if I could have a look at her novel and write a review. Logically, this was a very exciting thing for me.

I have been a bit busy with other projects so I took me a while to get to it, but I have finally found the time the time and space to bite into this price of literature.

*****

After her life is turned upside down through a serious of unfortunate events, sixteen-year-old Brooklynn is forced to move to Texas, where she and her family can start over. Plagued with the ability to read the thoughts of those around her and visions of the future, she must juggle adapting to her new high school and saving those she sees may be doomed to die. But after the incident back in Edmonds, Washington with Alex Pierce, Brooklynn is shaken about her ability and with only her grandmother, Karen, to understand her, she’s not sure whom she can trust—especially after meeting the mysterious and fearless January who seems to be the one person immune to her abilities. With a new school, new friends, and the conflicting feelings of a new crush, Brooklynn has a lot to manage… all while dealing with January’s impending threats of revenge. Filled with suspense, drama, and wit, Brooklynn’s Bridge will take readers through a spiraling mystery, as it follows Brooklynn and her secret abilities through the whirling world of high school and revenge… but will her powers and her new friends be enough to allow her escape January’s grasp with her life?

*****

So at the moment, this book is only available as E-Book. The author was kind enough to send me a copy. 14 chapters. 144 pages. So it is a fairly short book. It will take you only couple of hours to read.

Ok. Let's talk about the writing. As a debut novel, it's fairly good. Although I do feel that it seems a little bit rush. I don't feel like the background of the story and the history of the characters. It felt like watching the first to Harry Potter films. You know - bad cut, bad special effects, bad character development. It just didn't seem to flow naturally, but instead it felt forced. It seemed rushed.

The story itself has a potential to become a great YA novel. It has the right recipe - love triangle, special powers, hidden secrets. The characters could become characters which could stay with you forever. But the way the story is rush, the characters suffer. The story suffers. Unfortunately. It needed to be worked on more. It needed to be thought through more. The twists in the story very false manufactured. They didn't make me want to jump of my chair screaming : "OMG - I can't believe that it happened. " It just wasn't exciting enough. It wasn't thrilling or joyful. It was mild. Bland. Not memorable. Which is a great shame.

Personally, I think that the author should either take more time with the book and its second instalment or write this book in form of a blog where she could take her time with each chapter and make sure that she brings more excitement into the story.

So I am sorry to say this KT, but I was a little bit disappointed with you first novel. I think you should take more time with the sequel and think properly about the background story which would help it to develop more and in the right direction in the future.

Jennifer E. Smith : THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE

Warning: Prepare to be overwhelmed with feelings. This book is so romantic, it makes you fall in love with it from the first page.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE is a YA novel written by the very wonderful and very talented Jennifer E. Smith. This is the second book I've read written by this author and it managed to confirmed how excellent this author is in story-telling.

I wasn't the only one being impressed with this book. Many reviewers and book bloggers agreed with me:

"Perfect for those who appreciate perfect sunsets and staring adoringly into someone's eyes." HEAT

"A sweet, charming and refreshing romance guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face." Sugarscape.com

"A gorgeous, heartwarming reminder of the power of fate." NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW

And I couldn't agree with my fellow colleagues more. This book made me fall in love with it from the moment I read the blur on the back and it continued to surprise me until the very last page.

*****

If fate sent you an email, would you answer?

It's June - seventeen-year-old Ellie O'Niell's least favourite time of year. Her tiny hometown is annually invaded by tourists, and now there's the added inconvenience of a film crew. Even the arrival of Hollywood heart-trob Graham Larkin doesn't help. But there is something making Ellie happy. Ever since an email was accidentally sent to her, she's been corresponding with a mysterious stranger, the two of them sharing their hopes and fears. Their relationship is not without secrets through - three's the truth about Ellie's past... and her pen pal's real identity. When they finally meet in person, things get much more complicated. Can two people, worlds apart but brought together by chance, make it against the odds?

*****

Ok, let's start with the easy part. The look of the book. I own the paperback edition published by Headline in 2012. 407 pages divided into 25 beautiful chapters. Each chapter is accompanied with an email between two main characters. A nice touch. A touch I would actually expected from the author. I came to realise that Ms Smith always makes her stories special in some way and these emails are a unique details for this romantic story. The cover is beautiful. Mine is the colourful one. Orange and yellow colours fading to brown and black. Bold lettering - the same as on every single book published by this author. It became kind of a signature writing for Ms Smith and her books. On the front cover is a romantic picture of Ellie & Graham on a boat looking into each other's eye while sunrise. So romantic. And sweet.

The writing is so so easy to read. But it's sweet. Romantic. Heart-warming.  Refreshing. Heart-shattering at times. Packed with twist and turns you don't see coming. It's a story about fate and true love which keeps you entertain from the start. You find yourself glued to the pages from the first moment you start reading the book thanks to the very engaging and hilarious email exchange between the two main protagonists of the story. But what I love about this story and the writing and it keeps continue on giving. You just can't stop yourself. You want to know what happens next. I stayed up all night as I failed to stop myself from reading. I loved it that much.

The story itself is just pure romance which doesn't fail to charm even the biggest cynic. You find yourself invested in this romantic story even without realising. It will bring up so many emotions and feelings you were hiding from the world. And it will show what true love supposed to feel like. And I am talking about the one true love so consuming that you cannot stop but let it wash over and take over your whole being. The love story of Ellie & Graham is one of those love story which will stay with you long after you finish reading the book. Maybe the reason behind is because it full-fills every one of your secret romantic dreams you carry with you, or maybe it's thanks to the ending with is inconclusive. You don't get to know for sure if they stay to together or if it's only summer romance. It will leave you with your own ending to the story ( SPOILER ALERT - SORRY!! No, I am not sorry) . For me personally, I hope that these two will find they happily-ever-after together. They are meant for each other and that it's clear from the start to finish and it would be a great loss if they would let their love slip away.

The characters in this book. You can not help, but to love them. Every single one of them. Apart from the paparazzi maybe. Ellie is the redhead girl who never dreamed of prince charming or being swept away by hollywood starlet. All she ever wanted is to be happy and read poetry. But she deserves so much more. She is intelligent, beautiful, sensible and has a wonderful sweet personality you cannot help but love. She is a protagonist many girls can relate to. Graham is the prince charming - literally. He is handsome, successful and charming. But he is also unhappy in the Hollywood. He is missing his old easy life where he wasn't chased by reporters on every corner. And Ellie reminds him how amazing life can be when you meet someone special. These two deserve the best. And the best is to be with each other. I have been routing for them from the start and never stopped. I want them to find their happy ending. I want them to live their happily-ever-after. They are good for each other. They compliment each other. And they make each other happy like never before. Fingers crossed, that the author actually meant for them to stay together.

So all in all, I have truly love this book. Every single page filled me up with so many wonderful feelings and I was sad when it ended as I never wanted it to end. I wanted this story to go on so I don't have to say goodbye. I even didn't say hello yet... (Get it?) Jennifer E. Smith always manages to do this to me with her writing. I go through so many feelings and emotions that I end up sobbing in my room to the pillow and eating enormous amounts of chocolate to keep my stress levels low. But I never regret reading it. I always want to re-read the story immediately. And that's what a good storytelling and writing should do to you. It should leave a permanent mark forever. And somehow this writer and her stories manage to do this every single time.

So thank you Ms Smith. I have had a beautiful, heartwarming & emotionally draining time reading this book but it was worth it. I adore it from the start till the end and I cannot wait to re-read it again soon.

Sarra Manning : ADORKABLE

Warning! Prepare yourself for another YA novel which takes you back to good old times of old school romantic comedies from the 90s.

ADORKABLE is a contemporary YA novel written by one of my favourite english authors, who never fail to put a smile on my face, Sarra Manning. I have had couple of encounters with Ms Manning's writing and so far I've enjoyed all of them.

Last year, I was browsing the Amazon Books Department for more stories from Ms Manning's pen and I stumbled across ADORKABLE. After reading the summary, I had to own this book. And what a great decision I have made.

Welcome to the dockside. It's going to be a bumpy ride... Jeane Smith's a blogger, a dreamer, a dare-to-dreamer, a jumble sale queen, CEO of her own lifestyle brand and has half a million followers on twitter. Michael Lee's a star of school, stage and playing field. A golden boy in a Jack Wills hoodie. They have nothing in common but a pair of cheating exes. So why can't why stop snogging?

*****

Firstly, let me talk you through the edition I own. Paperback. 387 pages divided into 38 chapters plus epilogue. A light yellow cover with picture and drawings of Jeane and Michael. Very fresh and youthful design. Eye-catching. You want to own the book thanks to the brilliant blur not the back. It gives you a little glimpse to the story but doesn't spoil it completely for you.

The writing is easy to read. Fresh. Funny. Smart. Enjoyable and un-put-down-able. The whole story is filled with pop culture references every one can relate to. Not to mention that Ms Manning's writing and storytelling is always hilarious to read, so keeps you entertain all the way through.

The story itself is wonderful. We all love a good love story between the school jockey and the nerd or dork. And this book is just the one to add to your collection. I love the contrast between the main characters and the fact that we can read the story from both point of views. It keeps it more entertaining. You just want to keep on reading. What will happen next? Will this unexpected relationship slowly develop to love? Or will these two characters totally crash and never speak to each other again? You find yourself routing for the relationship to last as you can see that they are good for each other. You can see the changes within them. The whole story is packed with twists and turns and keeps you on your toes. I loved it. It made me to being able to put the book down. And even when I wasn't reading it, I kept think ing about it.

Part of the reason, why I enjoyed this story so much was Jeane. She is such an inspirational character and my new heroine. She is a blogger, social media extraordinaire. She is a little bit eccentric and a total dork, but I love her for it. I find myself relating to Jeane in so many ways. It's like reading my story (well apart form the international success and possible hunk boyfriend). She has a refreshing way of thinking and looking at world and I admire her for so many reasons. One of them, being such an original, unique character in a society packed with skinny girls in designer clothes watching junk TV programs. I love that she lives off Haribo's and coffee. I love that her clothes are from a thrift shop. She is ambitious, indecent, free... I think young girls should read this book, just so they can discover how awesome is to be a dork or a nerd. Embrace your inner dorkiness and weirdness!!!

But I have to say I do like Michael too. Especially because he is a guy with morals and standards. He isn't an emotionally modified robot who only shags around even when he could. He actually goes for the substance not the packaging. And I love his love-hate relationship with Jeane. They are like a breathe of fresh air with their constant arguments and opinions so different to each other. But they help each other to become a better person. Together, they can take over the world ;-)

But the best thing, the most important message of this book, is a message which clearly says that it's ok to be different. It's ok not to follow the crowd, but be the leader. It's ok to be weird, nerdy or dorky. Because at the end, that's what makes up unique. That's what makes us happy. We shouldn't be ashamed of it. We are leaders and one day the world will be ours to take.

So thank you Ms Manning for writing ADORKABLE. I have loved every single page and cannot wait to re-read it again. Also, thanks to you I have a new world in my dictionary which I am trying to use as many times as I can through the day - Adorkable is the word to use on daily basis. Adorkable is the way to be.

I am obsessed with romantic YA novels recently. I just wish I could spend all day reading these stories and this one is definitely on my list. It sounds like a good 90's romantic comedy which I love to watch when I feel down. They never fail to put a smile on my face and I cannot wait to bite into this one and discover its charm.

What are you waiting for this Wednesday?

Cecelia Ahern : WHERE RAINBOWS END

Warning! Brace yourself! A lot of patience is needed when reading this book. Plus stocking up on tissues and chocolates is recommended.

WHERE RAINBOWS END is a romantic novel written by the very talented and very popular author - Cecelia Ahern. Many of you remember Ms Ahern thanks to her "little" story - P.S. I LOVE YOU, which has not only become an international bestseller, but a blockbuster in the world of cinematography.

Many of you will also know this story under a different name - its film adaptation name - LOVE, ROSIE. And yes, I have seen the film before I read the book. If I am completely honest with you my dear readers, I have to say, that the film actually made me want to buy and read the book. I fell in love with the story of Rosie & Alex on the big screen, and I hoped that I will fall in love with their story written on pages of a book.

*****

Rosie and Alex - best friends or soul mates? Since childhood, Rosie and Alex have stuck by each other through thick and thin. But suddenly, they're separated, when Alex and his family move from Dublin to America. Their magical connection remains but can their friendship survive the years and miles? Misunderstandings, circumstances and sheer bad luck have kept them apart - until now. But will they gamble everything - including their friendship - on true love? And what twists and surprise does fate have for them this time?

*****

Let's talk about the edition of the book I own first. I have opted out for one of the newer editions, but refused to buy the edition released and tied to the film. Mine is quite a simple design. Purple colour is dominant and is a coat for the pages stored inside. Bold, metallic blue lettering shines through and gives it that extra little sparkle. Simple, yet elegant and chic. Paperback. 558 pages divided into 55 chapters plus epilogue. It's quite a big book, but you won't be able to put it down.

Now, before I dive into my thoughts about the story, let me express my gratitude and how impressive is that that this whole story is written in the form of emails, letters, instant messages, texts. There isn't the usual story telling which follows the regular rules. Everything what happens in the story, we get to find out the exchanges between main characters. And that is awesome and truly original. One of the best and most uniquely written stories.

As I mentioned previously, I have seen the film adaptation first. So naturally I couldn't help but compare when reading the book itself. But I also tried to be objective and pretend that I haven't seen the film before.

Here are the good points. The story and its subject is so romantic and wonderful. A friendship so strong that it withstands even the biggest challenges of life. A friendship between two people who loves each other so dearly. A love so strong that the two people are ready to make sure that the other is happy. Even when they have to let them go. It has its ups and downs, but they are there for each other in the hardest of times regardless if they have fallen out. And of course, I cannot help but admire the uniqueness of the way the story is written.

But these are the problems I have with the story. Sometimes, the author just carries on and it feels forced. The time in the story just flows by. It's expanded through many, many years. And the main two characters only find their true happiness when they are fifty years old. I am not happy about that. Some of the twists thrown between that two felt forced and unoriginal. It made me so angry that I had to stop reading the book just to breathe through it.

But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the book, or that I did not route for the characters. I loved Rosie. She is such a troubled girl who's life is a complete mess and she can't seem to find her perfect happily ever after, because she is in love with her best friend, Alex. He loves her too, but the life is full of unexpected surprised and things gets in the way and they keep on missing each other. Alex is just a lovely, absolutely adorable at times. Every girl will have a little crush on him once reading the book. Ruby is a great addition to the story as she is keeping it fresh and down-to-earth. The banter between her and Rosie is hilarious and you will find yourself laughing out loud. Actually the whole interaction between characters is spot on. It leaves you in stitches at times.

So yes, I did enjoy reading the story. I didn't dismiss it just because it took them forever to get together. But I think I still prefer the film adaptation a little more. Probably because I was crying like a baby when watching it. But thank you Ms Ahern for writing this story. It's romantic and unique and leaves you craving for your own happy ending and analysing your own friendships.

And guess what? The film is coming out on DVD this week so make sure to buy yourself a copy for your DVD collection. Trust me, you won't regret the decision.

Despite his charming ways and the fact that he seems to be one of the first people who actually gets her, she's smart enough to know his interest won't last. Because if there's one thing she's learned from her mother's warnings, it's that the rich have a short attention span. But just when Xander's loyalty and attentiveness are about to convince Caymen that being rich isn't a character flaw, she finds out that money is a much bigger part of their relationship than she's ever realised. With so many obstacles standing in their way, can she close the distance between them?

SOLITAIRE by Alice Oseman

"I don't ever remember not being serious. As far as I'm concerned, I came out of the womb spouting cynicism and wishing for rain."

I'LL MEET YOU THERE by Heather Demetrios

But after graduation, the only thing separating Skylar from art school is three months of summer... until Skylar's mother loses her job, and Skylar realises her dreams may be slipping out of reach.
Josh had a different escape route: the Marines. But after losing his leg in Afghanistan, he returned home, a shell of the cocksure boy used to be.
