Confession time! I have fallen under the spell of TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE. It was one of my favourite books of all time. The story was so beautiful that it has touched my heart and soul. I could not stop think about for days. So I am extremely excited about the sequel. I have so many questions which need to be answered.

Rebecca Serle : FAMOUS IN LOVE

Warning! You will catch yourself day-dreaming about your famous crushes and what would happen if...

FAMOUS IN LOVE is a contemporary YA romance written by Rebecca Serle. This is my first encounter with Ms Serle's writing. To be honest I have been eyeing the book for quite some time in the local Waterstones, but I only purchased it for my February Reading Challenge.


Well, the reason behind my indecision can be easy explained by re-typing the blur on the back. Now, before I do that I want to make one thing clear. I do like my YA romance books. I am a romantic at heart and I have been waiting for my one true love and the big romantic gesture for years ( and I am still waiting - for some reason either of the Chris's I like ( That's Chris Pine or Chris Evans) still haven't found the little me in the crowd yet - but I am not giving up). And yes I do day-dream meeting the One and have been having crushes on guys for years. So you would thought, that this book will be something I would literally jump the bones to read, but there is just so much romance and believable the authors can use. And this book is the one on no-believable side.

When Paige Townsen gets picked to star in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month she's thrown into a world of gossip, rumour and deceit. The only people who know what she's going through are her two male costars, but her feelings for them are getting complicated. Paige knows it's a mistake to fall in love on the set of a movie, but days of on-screen romance start to change her mind. The question is, can she keep what happens behind the scenes a secret when the world is watching her every move?

The Edition. Paperback. 309 pages divided into 24 chapters. It's a little bit on the shorter side of epic romances. But according to the writer's plans this book is the first one in the series. Bright pink colouring with big heart and glitters on the cover. Eye-catching. I kinda enjoy when the graphic designer use bright colours.


The writing. Modern. Easy to read. Funny at times. And quite relate-able. Bella Thorne said that this book gives a good inside to the world of Young Hollywood and what changes are these selected people going through. And I have to agree with her. This book does give a quite a good glimpse of the world behind the scenes - the politics, relationships, mind games, gossip... It's like they never grown out of high school and still play at the playground. It fascinates me and angers me at the same time.

The story. As I said I do love a little bit of romance. And this book has the perfect recipe for making a good love story. A girl's dream comes true. She meets two wonderful handsome princes and ta-da-da a love triangle is born. Of course, throw is some drama, secrets and gossips and you got yourself a perfect romantic comedy millions will fall for. But this one seems to be a bit on the cheesy side. Like a roquefort. The story is quite predictable. You know what will happen as soon as you read the first chapter where is mentioned a synopsis of the book the film Paige is auditioning for. There is no major surprises. The sexual tension between the main love triangle is a little bit bland. It's enjoyable and you do find yourself wanting to know more from Paige's story and who she will choose, but it doesn't make me feel things as extremely as other books I've have read.



Let's talk about the main protagonists in the love triangle. Paige. A girl, who's dreams have just come true. She's landed a role in a blockbuster with two absolutely gorgeous guys who hate each other - Rainer & Jordan. She is a little bit lost in the world which sucked her in and she needs to patiently but quickly learn the ins and outs of the Hollywood. And she is, for the first time, truly falling in love. On the set of the film she is filming. But who she will choose? Rainer who makes her feel safe and cares for her and tries to make her feel as comfortable as possible, but it seems that he loves the attention a little bit too much. And then we have Jordan. Mysterious. Dark and handsome who has a bad boy reputation, but lovely soft heart and makes Paige's knees go week. These two guys have a history and seems to hate each other. Will Paige be another thing they fight about?

I have loved the prologue to this story. It's exciting. It makes you want to find out who is the guys she feels so strongly about. Who she loves the most? The prologue is intriguing and gives you hope that this book won't be as cheesy and predictable, but then the author falls into the expected.



So all in all, it was a nice read for February Reading Challenge. I wouldn't put this book on my absolute favourite list, but I wouldn't completely dismiss is either. So I am quite looking forward to read the second instalment, TRULY, MADLY, FAMOUSLY, is expected to come out on October, 13th  2015. Let's hope Ms Serle will inject some excitement into the story. And I want to get to know Jordan more. I am developing a serious crush on that boy ;-)

You can also download a novella accompanying this book. It's called LOCKED ( so it's the book which film adaptation Paige, Rainer & Jordan are filming). I have been reading it, so I could compare. And to be honest, I wish the author would write more of Locked story, because the novella is way better that the story, the book supposed to inspire. I have enjoyed reading way more than Famous In Love. I hope that the author will write a proper LOCKED story. It would be great - she has a good plot going on. Maybe she could write next Twilight series.



So the verdict Ms Serle is. Your book has a very predictable story line. It seems that the novella which should only be a cool addition to the trilogy is way better and more interesting than your trilogy. Maybe should think about continuing writing it instead of the planned trilogy.

TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE is a contemporary YA novel written by the very talented Jenny Han.


Ms Han is not a newbie in the literary world. You might have heard of her Burn For Burn Series  (which she co-wrote with Siobhan Vivian) or her The Summer series. But she literally took over the readers world, when she published To All The Boys I've Loved Before last year. I have been recommended this book by many of my fellow blogger friends. It seems that there is something really special about this book, so when Sara & I were picking this month's read for #ZCbookclub, this was a clear winner!

Lara Jean's love life is about to go from imaginary to way out of control. Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in hatbox her mother gave her - one for every boy she's ever loved. She can say anything she wants, because the letters are for her eyes only. It's her goodbye to them. It's how she falls out of love with them. But then the unexpected happens and the letters get sent out. And Lara's love life is about to get seriously complicated.

Let's talk about the edition first. I own the paperback. 422 pages divided into 72 beautifully written chapters. There is beautiful image of Lara Jean on the front. It's very modern but there are some vintage aspects of the picture too. The font used for he name and author is absolutely beautiful and suits the book well. I have actually purchased the hardback too! You know, how I get when I discover a great story.


Which brings me to the story itself. You know that there aren't many books in the world you enjoy reading so much that they leave a permanent mark on you. For me it's been only few : The Perks Of Being a Wallflower, Soulmates, Eleanor & Park, The Night Circus.. And mostly recently Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Now let me tell you, this book has join this exclusive club. This story got under my skin straight from the first page and wouldn't let go. I was going through the chapters like my life would depend on it. I just could not put it down.

This story is a beautiful story of falling in love for the first time. It goes through a monition when you think you are in love, but then discover that the person you thought you love is not the person for you after all. And then you find love in the most unexpected place. Jenny Han managed to tell this story in wonderful thoughtful manner. Her storytelling just takes your breathe away. Not only she touches upon subject of first love, but the relationships and love within family who has been through a major heart-break but pulled through.


This book is beautiful. Mesmerising. Hilarious at parts. Smart. Adorable at some places.  Very relate-able. And absolutely un-put-down-able. The writing is packed with modern-day references so many of us can relate to. And the way Ms Han writes is magical. You become part of the story. You invest yourself in it so much without even realising it. And you just want to read on. You don't want to miss anything. You want to know more. So you keep on turning the pages and when it's over you have a serious book-hangover nothing can cure. Not even a massive amounts of chocolate - trust me, I have tried. The writing is so unique that it leaves you with so many emotions and feels.

And that is thanks to the wonderful characters Ms Han has created. Lara Jean is such a sweet characters so many of us girls can relate to. We all had various crushes on boys. We all found a way to deal with the heart-break, but if it comes to first love we are scared as much as her. At the start I was routining for her and Josh to somehow find their way to each other - even though he is still in love with Margot. But then Peter Kavinsky showed up! We all like the cheeky boy attitude. He is a full package - handsome, athletic, laid back, funny.. Only hang up is his forever appearing ex. Grrr. Go away Gen!! But my absolute favourite character is Kitty. She is the cutest, most adorable sister everyone wants to have. She is smart and driven by what she wants - a puppy for christmas !! Brilliant.


I adored the interaction between the Song Girls. That's a relationship every mother wants for their children. And I wish me and my sister had such a great relationship when we were younger. It's addictive. Not to mentioned the cat-dog relationship between Lara Jean and Peter. Their constant bickering is hilariously funny and keeps the dynamic exciting. And Kitty absolutely adores him and wears him down so he starts to love her too. It's beautiful.


All in all, I have fallen under the spell of To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I have already pre-order the second book - PS I STILL LOVE YOU on Amazon. I can't wait to find out if Lara Jean & Peter make it at the end. Will Margot find a new love? I hope Mr Covey will start to date. He needs someone special in his life too.

I am really looking forward to this book. I love Sarah J. Maas' writing. Her Throne of Glass series is one of my favourite series. In recent months I've also become a huge fan of Fantasy YA genre so I am absolutely ecstatic to read more from this genre. I hope it will tie me over before new Throne of Glass book comes out!

Leila Sales : THIS SONG WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE

THIS SONG WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE is a contemporary YA novel written by Leila Sales. This book has been amongst favourites in YA genre published last year. I have been recommended to read it by many book lovers and avid readers.

So naturally, I have to find out what is the buzz about. In a role of a book blogger and YA genre followers (especially when it comes to contemporary YA genre) I have the duty to find out if the reviews were true and this book is something special. So I decided to include in February Reading Challenge.

Meet Elise. Elise has been having a hard time in her school. She has just started as a sophomore in high school and tried to re-invent herself so people might like her. See, Elise isn't what you would call a popular girl. Actually, she is the opposite. Although, she is very intelligent and has an amazing taste in music, people have been picking on her since she was a young girl. So she tried to re-invent herself to their liking. And failed. It seems that nothing she does is good enough for people to notice her and be friends with her. So Elise decides that she doesn't want to live her life and tries to commit a suicide. Unsuccessfully. Seven months down the line, she is still unpopular. People still stay clear of her. So she starts to walk at the night time. And one night she comes across Vicky and Pippa who introduce her to the best underground dance party - START. Here nobody knows or cares about Elise's past. She is free to explore her love for music and starts to playing up with the thought of being a DJ. But not every one has forgotten about Elise's past, which will come soon enough to haunt her. Her new found happiness is threaten to be destroyed. Will she prevail or will she fail?

Let's talk about the edition first. Paperback. 271 pages divided into 20 chapters. So it's a fairly short story. There is a beautiful photograph of a girl with headphones. I assume this is Elise (Hello Elise - it's nice to meet you. Waves.). Bold white lettering across the picture spell the name of the book, but certain four letters are pink to spell the word LOVE. Nice touch. The only problem I have is with the blur on the back of the book. It doesn't give a justice to the story and it's a little bit misleading. It promises a different story to the one hidden within the book's pages.


The writing is modern. Easy to read. Very relate able and packed with pop culture references. I love all the songs mentioned in the story, so 10 points for that touch. It makes the story more real.


The story itself.. well, let me start by saying, I DID LIKE THE STORY. The issues mentioned in it. Elise's story and her life is so relate able to many people in the world. Many teenagers feels the same way and it's brave from the author to bring up the issue of suicide. This subject is always a bit touchy in the literary world, especially in the YA genre. I also love the fact that the author concentrates more on the character of Elise and her loving the way she is than a love story brewing between Elise and Char. We all need to be happy with ourselves. And we really shouldn't let anyone else to get to us enough that it starts to hurt us. This aspect of the story is absolutely fantastic. The way the author approached the subject is sensitive but explain in clear tones. And it's very true....  But I still feel something missing.

Although I like the story, I couldn't properly get into it. It's like I couldn't connect to the story emotionally...  It didn't have the WOW Factor every one kept mentioning. It took me a while to properly invest myself in it. But I can't pinpoint the reason why. I just couldn't make connect and say: "Wow. I can't believe how brilliant this book is!". After finishing the book, I was like : "Oh, it was OK."


I liked the characters in this story. I think the author managed to capture so many characteristics of different personalities and their reasoning behind their behaviour.
Elise is a good character. She is intelligent, beautiful inside and out and she can accomplish everything she wants. But thanks to thinking too much what others think of her and how they see her, she is hurting and losing faith in herself and how important she is to others. And that's why I like the story. There are so many guys and girls who feel the same way and I hope this book will help them to see everything from a different angle and help them to find happiness.






I did appreciate the music - songs and artists - mentioned in this book. This book is right up to my street and I ended up re-listening to many songs which made an appearance in this story. I also love the playlist aka recommended listening on the back of the book. Dear Spotify, we will be busy tonight!


All in all, I did enjoy reading this book. I have loved the main subject of this book, but it was missing a wow factor for me. But I might give it another go in the future to see if I change my mind.


But Well done Ms Sales. You have written a great story!

Kody Keplinger : A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHTMARE

Warning!! Welcome back to Hamilton and Hamilton High, the place never short of drama.

A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHTMARE is a summery young adult novel written by one of my favourite american authors Kody Keplinger. Kody literally blew my mind with her debut novel THE DUFF, so as soon as I finished reading it, I bought the whole collection of her books.

And since all my books in February Reading Challenge are love stories in mostly pink and purple book covers, I have decided to read A Midsummer's Nightmare next. Oh, and what a good choice I have made!!  I was once again reminded of the amazing talent of Ms Keplinger. Her stories always reminds me a good old 90's romantic comedy and this novella wasn't an exception.

Graduation party. A girl meets boy. A girl gets drunk and sleep with the said boy. And a girl doesn't remember a thing when she wakes up the next day. Meet Whitley. Whitley has just spent a night with a random guy. A random, quite hot guy. And he wants her number. But Whitley doesn't do dating. She doesn't do friendships. She is a loner who likes to party. She has just graduated high school and cannot wait to spend yet one more epic summer with her dad. She has been counting down the days till she will be sunbathing by the lake where her dad lives. Sun, cocktails and lots of fun with her dad before Whitley starts college in autumn. That's her plan. Until her dad informs about the changes in his life. Firstly, he has moved to a little town called Hamilton. Gone is the condo near lake. Secondly, he is engaged to be married. Her always single dad with various flings is getting hitched. And thirdly, he has a new family. Whitley's summer has just gone down the drain. And if you think, that she might survive 3 months, you are mistaken. The boy she slept with at the graduation party turns out to be her future step-brother. And you thought you have a complicated life, right?

Let's talk about the package of the story aka book edition first. Paperback. 337 pages divided into 31 chapters. A photo of a girl with sunglasses at the front. I assume that's Whitley. Bold lettering and great blurb on the back. It makes you want to read the story!


Kody's writing is incredible. This woman knows how to write a good young adult story, which not only satisfies your cravings for romance and easy reading, but it also leaves you in stitches. This book is hilarious. And the writing is so inventive and addict able, that you won't be able to put this book down. You just want to keep on reading.


The story itself is not short of awkward encounters, hilarious situation, heart-break, disappointment and gossip. It's like the greatest romantic comedy put down on a piece of paper and made into a book. Hollywood screen writers and directors can learn from this young woman. This story is like a roller coaster which goes up and up. There are constant twists and turns and it just makes you want to read it more. Not to mention that amazing sexual tension between the future step-siblings. Brilliant.

I absolutely adore Whitley and her character. She reminds me my younger sister. A lot. She is troubled because she was left alone without proper adult guidance since she was a little girl. She doesn't trust people because they always disappoint her. She doesn't have friends. But at the same time this lost girl is craving every piece of love she gets. Such a wonderful and very relate able character to many girls. Nathan is a reformed bad boy who is in love with his future step-sister, but at the same time he knows that the relationship isn't possible. But that doesn't stop him looking and caring for her. When she is in trouble, he is ready to help. When she needs cheering up, he is there to make her laugh. I love these two characters. So different, but so similar at the same time. The dynamic between these two and the sexual tension is brilliantly described. You just cannot stop hoping that they find their way to each other.

Another part which sold me the book, was Whitley's relationship or the lack of with her dad. She feels abandoned, replaced with new family and lonely. She tries to hard to spend time with him, but he always shuts her down. But Ms Keplinger managed to write one wonderful dialogue between these to where they manage to sort out their problems. Let me tell, I was crying crocodile tears .


So another well done Kody. I have loved this page from start to finish. There isn't one little thing I would changed about the story or your writing. You are so talented and thank you for bringing these stories to my life.

What a wonderful choice of books. I am in love. Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU Shy!!! I cannot wait to bite into these stories!!

Hester Browne : THE VINTAGE GIRL

Warning!! Prepare for romance, castles and dancing at the ball. It's like a modern version of Cinderella where the girl really, REALLY likes the old things!

THE VINTAGE GIRL is a romance novel written by the lovely Hester Browne. This is a second book I've read from this author. I had previously the pleasure of reading The Runaway Princess. I did like the first novel, but it failed to wow me. So I went into this with a little expectation. I just thought, it would be a great way to pass my free time in-between reading challenges.


To be honest, I only expected to enjoy this book slightly. As mentioned, the previous experience with the author's writing didn't wow me to a major extend, but I found myself pleasantly surprised. I fell for The Vintage Girl and her story.

Meet Evie Nicholson - The Vintage Girl. Evie works for one of London's best antique shops and has a soft spot everything with history. She loves spending time in auction rooms saving bears and wedding photographs from destroying. She spends her time daydreaming about the lives her treasures 
 have seen and lived through. But her personal life isn't as rich and filled as her apartment. That changes when opportunity arrives and Evie is invited to Kettlesheer Castle in Scotland to evaluate some expensive things and treasure hidden within its walls. But Evie might just find more than she expected when Robert McAndrew - a handsome, gloomy heir, steps into her life.

Firstly, let's have a look at the design of the book first. Paperback. 352 pages divided into 28 chapters. This book has a wonderful vintage feel to it with it's graphic design. It reminds me a vintage wallpaper. Although, I wish the image on the front would be different because it doesn't really relate to the story itself much. Yes, it's a vintage pair of shoes and suitcase but I would prefer a teacup or a wedding photograph in a frame as they are the items Evie mentions the most. Also in USA this book has been released under the name SWEPT OFF HER FEET, so you might need to look for it under that name my american friends.


The writing itself is very entertaining, modern, colourful and easy to read. Actually, you will find yourself swept off your feet without even realising it. The story gets stronger and stronger as you read on. More twists and turns appears and you just find yourself not being able to put the book down.

The story itself is very witty and un-put-down-able. After first chapter I have been hooked. It's like a modern version of Cinderella, where the girl does stands with her feet firm on the ground not expecting to catch the prince's eye. The prince himself needs to dig deeper to find his true calling and loyalty to his duties and the kingdom itself is under economic crisis waiting for miracle. So you know you are in for an entertaining and joyful ride.


Let's talk about the characters. I love the colourful spectrum of characters displayed this story. I absolutely adore Evie. She is a dreamer who loves getting lost in her stories. But at the same time she stands with her feet firmly on the ground and knows her morals. She believes in duty calling and treasures every moment she gets to spend in her dream which might be soon over. Robert is more realistic who doesn't believe in old traditions and only wants to do something practical. He is handsome and intelligent, witty and serious at the same time. But he needs some cheering up. He needs to let himself dream bigger. So together they could be a lovely pair. But will they find their happy ending?

All in all, I have enjoy reading this book. It was an easy reading which helped me pass the time while waiting for February Reading Challenge to start. Not to mention that it was a good starter to the month of romance.

So thank you Ms Browne for writing some a joyful and beautifully romantic story every girl can lost in.

I, myself, have discovered this book while browsing through Amazon Book Department online. The first thing which caught my attention was the cover. It was beautifully mesmerising. And it has been catalogued and recommended for fans of Throne of Glass series, so of course I couldn't resist. I had to have it.

The Kiss of Deception tells a story of Princess Arabella Celestine Idris Jezelia, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan. But we all call her the name she prefers LIA. Lia flees her home on her wedding day to the Prince of Dalbreck. As you can imagine, she isn't a big fan of arranged marriage when she never had the opportunity to meet her future husband. She resists the old tradition and wants to leave her royal life behind. Her and Pauline, her faithful maid, run away to the town of their dreams and new beginnings Terravin. Her Lia and Pauline start to live their dream simple lives where they aren't the princess and the maid. They are two normal girls with fresh start. But of course, not everyone is happy about Lia's escape. There are her parents, who post a look-out with prize, an assassin who's duty is to kill like to help the Kingdom of Venda and The left-behind Prince who is curios about the princess who was more brave than him. Will Lia find her peaceful life she was looking forward to? Or will she have to stay up to her escape and face her punishment? Or is there more to her destiny that Lia first anticipated? 

Let's get over the formalities first. The edition. Hardback. 486 pages divided into 72 chapters. The author also included the lyrics of Songs from Venda and the extractions from The Last Testaments of Gaudrel which make the story more magical and intriguing. There is a beautiful picture on the front cover. A girl standing in the middle of meadow. The title is written in beautiful silver calligraphy. Such a beautiful edition. My heart and skin tingles when I'm looking at it. And you know that you are in long haul with a book or a story if a map of the fantastical country is printing on the insides of the book.

The story itself is written  from 3 points of view. Lia's - who is the main story-teller. The prince and The assassin. Now,  here is where the tricky, but very clever part comes in. At the beginning, we don't know who is who. We only know the names - Kaden & Rafe. They both took different identities when they arrived in Terravin so we don't know who is The Prince and who is The Assassin until 60% into the book.  And this makes you want to read the book even more.

But the best thing about this book is the story itself. Oh my world!! This book took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to like the story this much. But Ms Pearson managed to describe a wonderful fantasy world full of magic and adventure. Love and hate. Piece and war. I was more and more mesmerised as I read on. The talented author took her time and really thought this story through. There was the background history, the current state of affairs and the usual struggle with responsibility and duty. It reminded me so much of Throne of Glass series!!

And I fell under its charm. I just couldn't put it down. It was a thrilling ride. Exciting. Heart-shattering. Adventurous. Wonderful. Magical.. It was packed with twists and turns I couldn't see coming. An absolute perfection! And as you read on, you got more and more caught into the story. I love how the points of view and story-telling changes between the three main characters. I have enjoy the little attachments of lyrics of songs and stories from The Last Testament. It made so much more sense as you kept on reading.

And the characters? Well Lia is must have become my favourite female character. She is strong, kind, witty, full of compassion and love. And there is this fierceness about her spirit you just cannot help but admire. The Prince ( I won't mention the name not the spoil half of the fun for you) is strong, manly, kind and falls in love with Lia without even realising it. And The Assassin ... well he is one of the most intriguing characters. There is  more to him that he lets on. I sense a really interesting history in his past. And of course, I cannot forget to mention the lovely, always faithful and positive Pauline. The best girlfriend every girl needs. The one who goes to the ends of the world with you. I cannot wait to find out more. I need to know more.

I have been having serious withdrawals since finishing the book. All I do is google pictures, reviews, tumblr posts.. It has taken over my life. I have already pre-order the second instalment in this trilogy - THE HEART OF BETRAYAL, which is due to be released July 7th 2015. I am counting down the days.

So well done Ms Pearson!! Your story and its brilliant writing got under my skin and won't let go. And I couldn't be more happier about it.

FEBRUARY READING CHALLENGE

So we have successfully survived the first 31 days of 2015.  The cold weather, snow, rain and horrible wind made sure that I have spent a lot of time indoor wrapped up in a blanket, cup of gingerbread green tea in my hand and book in the other. So I smashed the JANUARY READING CHALLENGE!! 

And since January has ended, it's time to welcome February - the shortest member of his family. But February is special in its own way. February 14th aka VALENTINE'S DAY is celebrated all over the world. People in love spend awful amount of money on chocolates, flowers and gifts. 

So since, I am one of those people who are still single, I have decided to spend my February reading love stories!!!  7 books, 6 beautiful love stories. Now, I now what you might think.. 7 books but only 6 love stories? Well, it all becomes clear when you see the list. I promise.
