The Silver Linings Playbook - MATTHEW QUICK

So.. where to start?! Firstly, let me say this is not a book which I would usually pick up in a book store. Yeah, maybe second glance at the back ann quick read through what this book is about and I would put it in my basket, but this time the curiosity got to me first.

Everywhere.. every magazine.. every critic.. every awards ceremony this season is bragging about this movie and how awesome Jennifer Lawrence is as Tiffany. I think she actually became everyone's favourite actress at the moment. And I am along in the queue. So yeah, I have to be truthful. The biggest reason why this book tempt me to purchase it was all the fuss about the movie.

So I bought it on Valentine's Day along with Safe Haven and decided to read it. And what a great choice I have made!!!!!! Actually,  my friends must be pretty sick of me recommended to everyone I know.

I adore this book! It's definitely one of the most interesting books I have ever read. The writing is simple and easy to follow. It's written in a style of a person who spent a long time in mental institution like Pat. A therefore everyone can read it.

The story is so lovely. I absolutely love Pat. I just wanna take him into my arms and tell him that at the end of his life movie everything will be alright. Although he might not see it that way at the moment, everything will be fine. He will find his Silver Lining. It's amazing how much Pat loves Nikki and how hard he is working on improving so he can be the man Nikki deserves and wants him to be. Yes, it is unhealthy and obsessive and it is adorable in the same way. Every girl dreams about guy who would do that for her. It's incredible to follow his journey full of expectations and guessing if he ends up winning Nikki back. All the way through I was thorn... Do I want to Pat end up with Nikki? Do I want that he realises what is true and what now? Do I want him to remember why he has been in mental institution in the first place? Do I want him to end up with Tiffany? There were plenty of questions on my mind while reading through this book and the amount of various questions increased more and more when I got deeper into the book. But at the end I have realised that all I want is for Pat to find his Happy Ending - His Silver Lining.

Tiffany was one of the craziest characters I have known..Wow, some of the stuff seemed very creepy at the beginning but at the end her behaviour made sense. And she cares for Pat so so much. Although maybe she didn't have to pretend to be his ex-wife Nikki. But I did understand where she was coming from. She was trying to help him to move forward. And for that I cannot be angry with her.

My favourite character was Cliff. I love this bubbly man. I wish that if I ever need a counsellor I want one just like Cliff with a wonderful office like his. He is funny, but smart and can really can get across his point. And he is helpful and doesn't bullshit like other counsellors. And he is Eagles fan!! What more you want. He really truly cares for Pat and wants him to get better!

All in all I did enjoy this book very much. It is really funny. It doesn't make you cry, but it sure makes you laugh out loud from the beginning. Pat's story is funny and sad in the same time but he is one loveable character and his story is not a boring one. Although I could put this book down and go on with my everyday life, I was still looking forward to the time when I can read it again. My bus journeys became very entertaining. And as I said, I recommend it to everyone to read.

I actually cannot wait for the movie to come out on DVD so I can watch. Unfortunately silly me never found the time to watch it at the cinema. How stupid of me!! Now I have to wait till April!!

Happy Reading Lovelies! xXx

Safe Haven - NICHOLAS SPARKS

If I am being honest in this post, I have to start from the beginning. There are two reasons why I decided to read this book.

1) My romantic soul was starving with hunger after finishing A Walk To Remember. This book left such a big hole in my heart but also there was some dissatisfaction. I wanted a Happy Ending for Jamie and Landon! And they did not get it which left me sad.  So I started to read this book in search for this. I hoped that this book will satisfy my needs for a good love story. And I have not been wrong. Nicholas Sparks is the king of romance. Every book I have read so far, was special and unique in its own way. I have grown to love every character and had my fingers crossed all the way that everything will work out to the best.

2) Of course who cannot miss the adverts on TV! This movie is hitting the cinemas on March 1st in Uk and I am counting down the hours. I have already secured the attendance of my 2 housemates for the premiere. I am not going to miss it. I am very interested in seeing Julliane Hough in a serious movie like this. Not dancing around in a ballroom, but out of her comfort zone. And what about lovely Josh Duhammel. My sister is such a big fan! And there isn't  a girl who wouldn't say that he is a piece of a gorgeous man. And as you know me, if it is a novel or book I need to read it first, before I see the movie - so I can compare and probably moan about the differences between the novel and the movie.. CANNOT WAIT !!! :-)

So on Valentine's day (yes, I was single on Valentine's day third year running) I decided to pop to WH Smith and purchased this book. Especially, when the night before I finished and said goodbye to A walk to remember. I wanted more romance! And I got what I paid for.

I really like this book. Maybe not as much as A walk to remember but it is still in my Top 10. I love story and the mystery around Katie. I think she is such a brave character who can be an example to many women around the world who suffer from domestic abuse by the men who supposed to love them and cherish them. But instead all they get is being abused. I know that Katie haven't left her husband Kevin the ideal way. Yes, there are some issues with stealing someone else's identity, but she had no choice. I think Katie is one of the most inspiring characters I know. She had to find the inner strength to leave her abusive husband, to leave her home and start somewhere else. She had to learn to trust people again. She had to find out who she really is and finally realise that she deserves to be happy and loved the right way. And at the end she found it with Alex.

I love Alex. He is such a wonderful man. He lost his wife and was left on his own to look after his two children. But instead of giving up and moaning about it, he found the courage and become a great father, who loves his children very much. Who cares about their wellbeing and try to make the most of the situation and wants only their happiness. And the way how he cares about Katie as well! The simple romantic gestures he does without wanting any form of pay. I adored him all the way through for keeping her secret. It was so sweet!!He deserves Katie and her love and Katie deserves Alex and his love. And Alex's children deserves a happy family.

And there is the horrible husband - Kevin.  I think I haven't had such a hatred from a character in a long time.. well maybe Bill from Southern Vampire Mysteries - but I have my reasons for it.  Kevin is in a completely different league. He is one horrible person. I will never have sympathy for people like him, because in my own opinion, they do not deserve it. Yes, I know that many of you will say that he is ill. And I agree, he needs help... but I still hate what he has done and what kind of a person he is. Nothing will ever change that..

I think the biggest surprised in this book was the big twist about Jo at the end. I was not expecting it! Not at all. All the way through I thought the same as Kate. That she was Alex's and the children's counsellor. Such a twist!! I am not going to spoil it for you. It is amazing.

The story captivated me from the start and this is one of those books you cannot put down. And even if you do, you continue to think about it until you pick it up again. You want to know what will happen next. And you have your fingers crossed for Katie and Alex 's Happy Ending. I have to say I can't wait to see the movie and I hope that Julliane and Josh will do the characters the justice.

I recommend to read this book. It will make you laugh.. it will make you cry.. it will make you gasp and at the end you will be left with your mouths opened wide. But you will fall in love with this book as I did. Another well done to Mr Nicholas Sparks who again created one great love story. Now, I want more.

Happy Reading Lovelies xXx

A Walk To Remeber - NICHOLAS SPARKS

So I am writing this post as soon as I have finished this book and wonder to myself how come that I haven't read it sooner. How come that I have not discovered this heartbreaking love story earlier in my life? I have been missing out on something incredible!!

This book... this book touched my heart and soul. I have never read more beautiful love story. I don't think i will ever read something more beautiful. Nicholas Sparks wrote one amazing story. He is quickly becoming one of my favourite writers. I think he is actually number 1 at the moment. Every single book, which was written by him, I read within a space of  2 days. Every single book touched me deeply and I was taking by every one of them..

But this one ... This one is really special. It doesn't have a happy ending. You are warned from the beginning: "First you will smile, and then you will cry - don't say you haven't been warned."And that is so true. I have been looking forward to reading this book since I have came across by researching Nicholas Sparks on Amazon. I have just been in the middle of reading the 12th book of Southern Vampire Mysteries ( We all know how disappointing that was!) and I was lacking some romance and love in my life. You see I am a true believer in True Love and I absolutely adore every single love story - Romeo & Juliet, Sookie & Eric, Bella & Edward, Ronnie & Will, Elizabeth Bennett & Mr Darcy, Kelsey Langdon & Derek Malory... Every single one of them have a little special place in my heart. But this one left me speechless. And I want to share this story with all of you...

Story of love between Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter is breathtaking. The love between them is absolutely heart-breaking. It's kinda of love you want, you dream about, you wish far... As Landon says in the movie : "Our love is like the wind, you can't see it, but you can feel it!" All the way through the book you pray with Landon for a miracle, that Jamie will somehow survive the leukaemia.. that they will get their Happily Ever After.. And then you cry.. because they do not.

Jamie Sullivan is such a wonderful character. She is kind, good - hearted, loving, smart, beautiful inside and out. She is a real role model. And Landon... well he is will grow to a man he supposed to be thanks to Jamie. "Jamie was more than just a woman I loved. In that year Jamie helped me to become the man I am today. With her steady hand she showed me how important is to help others, with her patience and kindness she showed me what life is really about. Her cheerfulness and optimism, even in the times of sickness, was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed. Jamie also taught me value of forgiveness and the transforming power that it offers. Jamie held no grudges. Jamie led her life the way Bible taught. She was an angel who saved us all. "

I am sorry to be mentioning so many quotes from this book. Actually I am NOT!!! This book is wonderful. I smiled, laughed, had my fingers crossed that somehow the miracle will happen. I have been holding my breathe for Landon & Jamie. I have been crying. A lot. Especially through the last 2 chapters. Actually I knew that I will cry the moment I have read the Prologue to this book. This book is special. This love story is special and wish that every one of you picks up a copy of this and reads it. You will not regret it! I promise!

A walk to remember has not a permanent place on my book shelf and everywhere I will go, this novel goes with me. I will make my children read this book. And I will recommend it to every single friend. That's how strongly I love this book! Well done Nicholas Sparks!! You have touched my heart with this novel like nobody before and I will always remember this love story. I will finish with some of my favourite quotes from this book.

"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offence and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. "

"I held her close to me with my eyes closed, wondering if anything in my life had ever been this perfect and knowing at the same time that it hadn't. I was in love, and the feeling was even more wonderful than I ever imagined it could be."

"It wasn't that long, and it certainly wasn't the kind of kiss you see in movies these days, but it was wonderful in its own way, and all I can remember about the moment is that when our lips touched, I knew the memory would last forever."

Happy reading lovelies! This time you will not regret it! xXx

Callanetics - CALLAN PINCKNEY

Ok. This is something I have never had in mind when I started this blog. This supposed to be a blog about books I read and my opinion and impression from them. Fitness books, diet books and style books weren't on the list of the books. But here I go again writing about a fitness book this time. The only reason why I am doing this is because it works.

My mum was recommend this book by her sister. As you can see and after you will browse through it, it is a proper 80's book. But it works. My mum was on this health kick when she was about 40. Maybe it came with the age and she started to pursue success  with the diets. Maybe it was because of the divorce from my father which finally gave her and us freedom. It's a long story. And it doesn't have anything to do with the book so I leave to rest. So basically, she started to be real careful about what she eats and everything in our fridge and pantry was healthy. As you can imagine as teenagers, me and my sister were not very impressed, but we got on with it. Soon we could see the change in our mum's weight and appearance. Unfortunately the diet did not do all the tricks and she needed to workout. My mum is terrible runner and all the cardio workouts are not for her. Although she should do it, otherwise her heart will not be healthy. But her younger sister recommended this book. So she brought it home and started to workout every night. Slowly she increased her flexibility and intensity and you could see the results. After a month her body was much more slimmer. Her posture was sexier and she felt incredible.

So when a boy told me that I have a fat ass (what a lovely guy I know! Wonder who teach him the great manners!) I turned to her and we started to do workouts together. And I could see the results within a week. I know you will not probably believe me, but it's true. This 80's workout book based on some kinda slow movements which the instructor learnt in some African tribe really worked. And I got so many compliments. Your muscles get tighter and you feel more flexible. Your belly become so small and your waist is trim. Your legs are long and skinny. It's unbelievable.

Sadly I stop doing this workout as any teenager. I was more interested in partying and drinking and dancing. That was a workout I loved in those days, but now when I am in my late twenties, I found myself ordering this book online on amazon so I can get into shape. The body is not as it used to be and love fashion so I need to make sure that I fit in all those pretty clothes :) And again it works. It's old school like me and all my friends say, but it works. Why not do it, when the results are so visible.

Try it, let me know what you think. It might not work for  you, but there will be some moves you will love and it could be adapted to your daily regime and you will be able to see the results.

Have a good session Lovelies xXx

The Harry Potter Books - J.K. ROWLING

The Harry Potter books:

Harry Potter And Philosopher's Stone
Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secreats
Harry Potter And Prisoner Of Azkaban
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
Harry Potter And The Death Hallows

J. K. Rowling wrote a masterpiece. The Harry Potter books are adored by generations for past decade and they will be adored in the future. These are the books which every kid, teenager or person should read. I love getting lost in Harry Potter world and there is so many reasons why so many people around the world feel the same way about the books and every year we were altogether waiting for the new book come out and when the last one came to the world and we finished it, we felt like a part of us disappeared.

I have to say, I only started to read these books when I was back at high school and everybody was talking about them. My personal opinion was : 'What can be so amazing about 11 year old boy who discovered that he is a wizard?' Oh, how wrong was I! After first 10  pages I was hooked. Luckily, at this point, there were already 3 books out and the 4th one was on the way. I read and read and coudl not stop. It got to the point when I was secreatly reading it through the night with a little lamp or went to the toilet and read it there so nobody would disturb me. And then every year after that I could not wait for the new adventures of Harry Potter to come out.

I have been writing this post couple of weeks now. I don't think I can write something which wasn't already written. All I can say J.K.Rowling is a genius. I was talking to some of my friends the other night and these books came up and we all agreed on one thing. Rowling knew what she was doing. The writing is amazing. With every book you grow a little and therefore the writing gets better, the story gets a tad darker and you are even more submerge to the Harry Potter world which consumes so many hours of your day. We grew up with these books. We were growing and exploring the world with Harry, Ron and Hermoine. We were waiting how this friendship will pan out. Who will Hermoine end up with ? Who will Harry fall in love with? I think Ginny Weasley is just perfect for him :) With every book we found more and more secrets. And we could not put the books down. Not a chance!! Nobody will stop me reading and finding out what will happen next.

I have to say my least favourite book is The Chamber of Secrets. Unfortunately this book did grow to my heart as much as the others did. Especially The Half Blood Prince or the final The Deadly Hallows. These books made me smile and I found myself crying from the third book onwards at the end of every single one of them. Especially when Sirius Black and Professor Dumbledore died. Tears were running down my face and I was sobbing really loudly. Why they had to die? I just wanted to take Harry into my arms and cuddle him to make him feel better. I was so sad for couple of days after both of these tragic deaths. Poor Harry!

There were also moments when I was laughing out loud and was all happy. Like when Harry found out that he is jealous and likes Ginny. When Ron was jealous when Viktor Krum asked Hermoine to the dance. When Hermoine was jealous when Ron was dating. I loved and adored Dobby the house elf. He was the cutest of all. And then he died as well. Unfortunately.

Anyways, besides all the dying.. there were plenty of good stories. We were gasping, having our fingers crossed that everything turn out to be alright. We were loving every single page. (well maybe I was not loving as much the second book - sorry!) This is exactly why when I will hopefully one day have kids ( and fingers crossed their father will be Alexander Skarsgard hehe) I will make sure that they will get these books and they will read them. They can learn so much from these amazing books. On my list for future generations. IT SHOULD BE ON EVERYONE'S LIST FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!

Tell me which one is your favourite. I know most of you love them all. I think I might just finish this post and grab myself The Philosopher's Stone again a re-read them all again. Why not? It will only be for 10th time hehe.

Happy reading LOVELIES xXx

Seperate Beds - LAVYRLE SPENCER

I remember reading this book for the first time. Again, I thank to my mum, who is a reader like me, that she has introduced me to this book. This was the first book by LaVyrle Spencer I have read. And I loved it. I come back to it from time to time, just to make myself feel a bit better on a rainy crappy day. And it always works. It always cheers me up and gives me hope for a better future and maybe just maybe one day my dreams will come true.

This book is sweet, romantic and takes you to world where everything has a happy ending. Of course there is the struggle first. Our heroine gets pregnant after one and only one night stand with gorgeous millionaire Clay. And because Clay is from a good family and he wants to have a future as a good lawyer, he makes Cat a suggestion. They will get married, he will support her and on the outside they will be the perfect couple for a year and then they will go their own way. And as it goes... L.O.V.E. happens.

I am not going to be boring you with the description and tell you what is this book about. Why should I? READ FOR YOURSELF! If you a romantic in the heart, you will like it. Just make yourself comfortable on your sofa, light some candles, but a nice relaxing music on a get ready. Give yourself a break from everyday life and escape to a world where the girl gets the guy and happy ending. And it will give you a little bit of hope that one day we will find the same. Although I prefer not to get pregnant first! ;-)

Happy reading LOVELIES xXx

DEADLOCKED - Charlaine Harris

Well, I have finally found the courage and read this book. Actually I am starting to write this post when I am about 62% into this book (an advantage which you get when you are reading book on the kindle). And I have to say I do not like this book.

My first impression are sadness, loss of faith in true love, depression, loneliness... They arent feelings I usually get when I read Sookie's adventures. And this is so sad.

I have lost faith in Sookie's and Eric's relationship. It's like Charlaine Harris decided to write this relationship off completely. She made Eric to be this arrogant selfish bastard and Sookie became winey, not very understanding girlfriend. It's all about Eric proving and choosing her first, but I do not see anywhere that she would be fighting for their relationship either. A that is sad! Them two made these books entertaining. Their relationship is a heart of these books and i feel like the author is breaking this heart into little pieces... Where have all the funny dialogues gone? Where is the amazing flirtation you could feel through the pages. Every girl wanted to be in Sookie's place. As Pam pointing out to Sookie once, Eric hadn't had somebody like her in a long time. And he does truly loves her. And she loves him. We have been there when the blood bond was broken and she realised she loves him on her own. Where did all go? I loved the scene in the Dead in The Family where she jumped into his arms. There.. That is love! I was ruling all the way for Eric and Sookie. I think they are meant to be! He is the one for her and it makes me angry and unhappy, actually broken-hearted that after 11 books where they relationship blossoms and they get through the ups and downs, it looks like the end of it. I am not happy. And I am sure that there is more that 95% of the fan base of these  books who are as disappointed as I am. Yes, I agree with the fact that Eric should try harder to save this relationship. He should show Sookie how much he loves her and that he wants to be with her. But two can play this game and all Sookie does is being angry with Eric for something which he was clearly set up to do. My heart is aching while reading through this book. All I keep thinking is why did Charlaine Harris decided to kill off this beautiful love story? Why she kept us hoping that everything will workout for them two somehow? Why did she from the start - from the first book give us signs that them two belong together?
It makes me so so so angry...

Deadlocked was the second book from Southern Vampire Mysteries I could not wait to finish as it was really painful to read. Its not because of the story or the writing, it is because my dreams and hopes for Eric&Sookie's happy ending have been shattered to pieces. I love them together. They supposed to be together and will be rulling for them till the end. Which comes out in May. I hope that Charlaine Harris will give them a justice and does not fully kill the great love which is between them.

Fingers crossed!! Have a read and let me know what do you think? Who's team are you on?

Happy reading Lovelies xXx
