The summertime is soon coming to end. June and July have just flown by and we are already in August. I must say I feel depressed. Why does the summer feel so much shorter than winter? I am not sure where you are at the precise moment when you're reading this post, but I can honestly say that here is England we mostly experience cold, rain and wind all around the year! And summers are so short!!!
I, personally, am a warm person. I need the sun, the warmth, the flowers to experience happiness ( and of course thousands of books are a must!). So the only way I can see to get through this sad times is BOOK SHOPPING. As you probably by now guessed, it's the time of the month (for guys who reads this blog - I don't mean "my monthly gift from Mother Nature" like one very annoying advert presents it) to share with you the book treasures I found around local charity shops, supermarkets ( Yes Asda is still offering 3 for £10 on selected paperbacks - THANK GOD!!), various websites and bookstores. This month I have found some inspirations from watching some YouTube videos by two of my favourite vloggers TheArtsygal12 and thereadables (if you fancy knowing why I like them, check out their YouTube channels.).

RUNAWAY by Emily MacKenzie
'Wild child. Working girl. Survivor.'
'It was as if Pandora's Box had opened. The course of my life changed and in one moment I went from being a cherished child to an abused child. I was marked.'
Adopted at birth in 1956, Emily enjoyed a golden childhood, attending private schools and going to dancing lessons. Things changed when Emily was seven years old and her mother turned on her, suddenly viewing her daughter as a rival. She became addicted to beating her and encouraged her new husband, a narcissistic bully, to use his rhino-whip on her. By the time Emily was twelve, he was sexually abusing her.
Emily found her way into the care system, where she was vulnerable to the worst excesses of male violence. She ran away to London and was drawn into life as underage prostitute, servicing perverted clients. It was only when she was almost murdered that she turned her life around.
Set principally between 1966 and 1972, RUNAWAY is a shocking book that brilliantly capture the sleazy Soho of the period, and exposes the frightening conditions in which many children are kept in care. What happened to Emily must never be allowed to happen again.

THE INCREDIBLE ONLINE SENSATION
THE CASUAL VACANCY by J.K. Rowling
In the idyllic small town of Pagford, a councillor dies and leaves a 'casual vacancy' - an empty seat on Parish Council.
In the election for his successor that follows, it is clear that behind the pretty surface this is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, wives at war with husbands, teachers at war with pupils... Pagford is not what it first seems.
From the smallest of elections in a sleepy British town, J. K. Rowling conjures an epic, emotional and compulsively readable tale that has had millions of readers hooked.
ELEANOR & PARK by Rainbow Rowell
Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.
Eleanor... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.
Park... He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises... Park.
Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.
So here are my picks for the month of August. I know it's a long list but I just cannot stop buying books and then sharing these little pieces of souls with you . My favourite saying at the moment says:
"A READER LIVES A THOUSAND LIVES BEFORE HE DIES. THE MAN WHO NEVER READS LIVES ONLY ONE."
I am not sure about you, but I would rather be the person who lived and experience the thousand lives that die with the experience of only one. Each of these books offers a different story. Each of them will take you on a different journey through a world of someone else's imagination. If you are like me, you will be one of the characters. You might be the main protagonist, or the supporting character on the sidelines. But I am confident, that when you read these books, you will discover something new of your own character you never knew it was there before.
So HAPPY READING LOVELIES xXx
