Song Of The Week

Ok, so this week I will make the introduction to Song Of The Week sharp, simple and sweet. And it's not only because the battery on my MacBook is dying and I really want to get back to reading City Of Ashes.

It is because of one simple reason. I love this song. I am obsessed with it. I listen to it on repeat and I cannot wait to see the band live. By the way that will be on Slovakian festival famous all over Europe - Bazant Pohoda Trencin ( 11th - 13th July 2013). 

I fell in love with this track the first time I have listened to it. I actually love the whole album. So this week's Song Of The Week goes to:

DEFAULT by Django Django

I have to say I was introduced to Django Django by Mr Max Irons. I was watching the Hangout Live for The Host Film the other night and he recommended it. Also they are part of  the line up for the festival so they have been on my research list. But I have fell in love with the band and the music instantly and deeply. I think their album is the album I have listen to most last month. It even overcome last week's Bad Blood by Bastille.

It always wakes me up on the morning on my way to work. It makes me smile and brings a little bit of sunshine to a cloudy day. I can listen to it even when reading (it doesn't distract me like other tunes). Check out their album titled simply DJANGO DJANGO and let me know what you think. CASSANDRA CLARE: The Mortal Instruments

The Mortal Instruments is a collection of 6 books written by American writer Cassandra Clare. In the book shop you would find them in the Young Adult Science Fiction / Fantasy department. So basically these books guarantee to tickle my fancy. Who doesn't like a little bit of fantasy and love story in one?

New York, present years. Normally, you would expect business men, expensive lifestyle and some kind of society love story between tycoons and rich people. But Cassandra went and did something completely different. She introduced us to world of Shadowhunters, Demons, Downworlders which is hidden before our Mundanes's (normal people's) eyes. And to me,  stories like this one are close to the heart. I think you could guessed that from my posts - Twilight, Harry Potter, The Host, Southern Vampire Mysteries..

The reason why these books caught my interest is that I have seen the trailer for the movie in the cinema. And it looks so great. Interesting. Exciting. Dangerous. Adventurous. Absolutely amazing. And definitely my cup of tea. So I have decided to put on my List Of Books I Want To Read in 2013. I thought I would leave it closer to the day when the movie comes out in this cinema. 

But somebody decided different way. I started to read Beautiful Creatures but I could not get into them!

And these books kept playing on my mind! For some strange reason all I wanted to read was this story. Maybe the reason was that I was lacking a good story in my life. I can only read The Host so many times before I stop enjoying it. I love The Host so much so I don't want to lose the love for this story and it's characters. So I was desperate to find a book which would fill the space left after I finished The Host. 

So last Monday I went for a walk to the town. I had an hour to kill over my lunch. And my feet took me to .... Waterstones!!!! What a surprise! I know.. And the only books I was looking for were The Mortal Instruments books. I bought the first two and 5 days later went for the rest of them and I got through the first one within 2 days ( I have had no social life over Easter as I had to work.). 

The books in the series are:

• CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS
• CITY OF LOST SOULS
• CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE 

I will write a review of each one separately but I wanted to let you know what I am doing at the moment. And I wanted to tell you how fantastic these books are and inspire you to read them. The story is so fascinating. It was exactly what I was looking for. Within first couple of pages I was hooked and could not put it down. And wanted to share this treasure I found in Waterstones with you. I would recommend to anybody who likes these types of stories to read these books because they will capture your interest and you will not be able to put them down. And that is what you want from a good story. And Cassandra Clare did just that with The Mortal Instruments. 

Only 5 of them were published so far. The last one is coming out next year, March 1st 2014. They all are about £7.99 but you can get them on offer as buy one get other half price or there is the whole collection for a reasonable price on Amazon.

Album Of The Week: BASTILLE "BAD BLOOD"

I found this album while browsing through iTunes one boring evening. I was on a hunt after new additions for my music library. It was purely the fact there is just so many times I can listen to The Smith, Stereophonics, Snow Patrol ... until I get tired of them and will never want to hear them again. So in the hope of finding new bands who would catch my fancy and hopefully prevent me from disliking the bands I already love, I found myself browsing through iTunes and the Staff recommends section. If I am being honest, I have only heard Bastille's single Pompeii recently. It was on Spotify's Top 40 tracks in UK and it caught my interest.

So when the opportunity to buy and listen to the whole album presented itself, I took it without any hesitation. I downloaded the album to my iTunes library, transferred it onto my iPod and was ready to lose myself in the music. 

And they have done so well! Very well! So much that everywhere I go and to every one I know, I recommend to buy this album and listen to it. I fell in love with this masterpiece. I know it off by heart already due to the fact that I have listened to it so many times. There wasn't a day this week when I wouldn't press play button on my iPod and the beautiful music created by Dan Smith and his bandmates  - Chris "Woody" Wood, Kyle Simmons and Will Farquarson (not sure how to pronounce his surname) - wasn't coming out of the headphones and touched my heart and soul.

The whole album is very melancholic but romantic in the same time. The tracks blend into each other perfectly. It is a symphony for my heart and soul. I absolutely adore these english boys who are based in London.

Bad Blood was released on August 20th 2012. - I know I am well behind with my music education!!

I enjoy every single track on this album but my fave top three tracks are : Weight Of Living, Part II, Oblivion and Flaws. There is something about the first one especially that in the morning it is on the repeat. 

I also know that Oblivion was featured on one of my favourite TV shows - The Vampire Diaries. Seems that even the Hollywood is impressed by these four lads from UK. 

So far there was 5 singles released from Bad Blood. The most successful is Pompeii which ranked the number two single the UK charts and it was a  number one single in the Scottish Chart. Bad Blood also topped UK album chart and the boys shot the fame and a spot as a supporting band for UK tour of Two Door Cinema Club. 

Just couple days ago the Bastille performed their single "Pompeii" at The British Museum. You can watch the clip on our lovely YouTube. 

I will certainly follow Bastille as they are increasingly becoming one of my favourite bands and I am sure that they have a great future ahead of them. I will keep a close eye on their live performances as well as they earned their place on my Bucket List Of The Bands I Want To See Live. I will let you know if there are any tour dates announced.
