Marc Bolan was a little bit nuts. T.Rex by and large, were also a bit huts too. The first hit that got them noticed however, was probably the most bonkers of them all. That's why I absolutely love it.
It's just so chilled out floaty. You can actually picture yourself riding a white swan and beating it's lush feathers in time to participatory clapping. It's such an innocent song reflecting a much simpler time in music and social commentary. Bolan and the boys are pretty much giving their blessing to anyone who lives life on the kooky side of far out, even if they don't feel the need to strap a cat to their shoulder or stare at tea leaf residue like you're trying to reveal a magic eye picture. In the end Bolan sums it up in eight words; 'In the morning you'll know all you know'
There aren't many songs out there as diplomatic in their teasing
That's what I get from this song, apart from the twinkly feeling of joy every time I hear that opening riff. You could almost call it magic
Enjoy
